&lt;p&gt;The system focuses on four categories of information, each of which is denoted by a specific sign format. These categories are:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;NAVIGATION&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;CAUTION&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;CONNECTIONS&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;POINTS OF INTEREST&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;These signs can be used by themselves or jointly to provide a comprehensive information and safety system for a bikeway.&lt;/p&gt;
